Ingredients of Prawn Gyoza

  1. You need 350 g of Prawns (cooked).
  2. Prepare of Thumb-sized piece ginger.
  3. Prepare 5 of Garlic cloves.
  4. Prepare 1 tbsp of Cornflour.
  5. Prepare 1 tbsp of Demerara sugar.
  6. It's of Salt.
  7. You need of Pepper.
  8. It's of Sesame oil.
  9. Prepare of Gyoza wrappers.
  10. You need of Soy sauce or dipping sauce of choice.

Prawn Gyoza instructions

  1. Make sure gyoza wrappers are kept under a damp cloth whilst waiting to be used.
  2. Finely chop the ginger, garlic and a third of the prawns.
  3. In a bowl, mix together: the chopped prawns, ginger, garlic, cornflour, demerera sugar, salt and pepper.
  4. Add a teaspoon of this mixture to half of a whole prawn before wrapping in a gyoza wrapper using your preferred method (dampen the outer of the wrappers with a little tap water to ensure they seal well. Be careful not to overfill as they may then split).
  5. Heat a little sesame oil in a pan.
  6. Cook the gyoza for 1min per side in the pan.
  7. Add a little water to the pan (just enough to cover the base), cover the pan with a lid and then allow the gyoza to steam for 3mins.
  8. Remove the lid and let the remaining water evaporate.
  9. Serve alongside soy sauce or dipping sauce of choice.
